DMUK Students Explore Advertising Industry at JAS Agency
On October 14, 2024, students from De Montfort University Kazakhstan (DMUK) pursuing the Advertising and Marketing Communications programme had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of digital marketing with a visit to JAS Agency’s office, one of Kazakhstan’s top marketing firms. This insightful field trip offered first- and second-year students a closer look at agency operations and career pathways within the dynamic advertising industry.
The students were warmly welcomed by Nargiza Veliyeva, PR, Influencer Marketing & Community Head at JAS Agency, who introduced them to key team members. Among them were Alena Khegay, Creative Director and Partner, and Fatima Shamelkhanova, HR Manager. Alena led an office tour, showcasing the agency’s creative spaces and collaborative work culture.
Following the tour, Alena presented an in-depth overview of the agency’s operations and shared her personal career journey in advertising. Students gained insight into JAS Agency’s workflow, core principles, and standout campaigns. Some notable projects included creative campaigns for international brands like Lays with the unique “beshbarmak” flavor, Miller, Pernod Ricard, as well as InDrive and Wolt. These examples illustrated the strategies behind impactful marketing campaigns and the creative thinking involved.
Alena and Fatima also outlined career paths within the agency, highlighting various roles and specializations for aspiring professionals. The students expressed keen interest in internships, gaining practical insights into the skills and qualities JAS looks for in new talent.
