DMUK Computing Challenge: Ignite Your Future
De Montfort University Kazakhstan (DMUK) has announced the winners of its annual IT Olympiad.
As part of its commitment to fostering a strong computing community and supporting the ambitions of future IT specialists, DMUK hosted its second Computing Challenge for high school graduates interested in pursuing a degree in an IT-related field.
This year’s competition attracted over 1,000 participants from various cities across Kazakhstan, who registered for the first round.
The first round, held online on 19th October, tested participants’ knowledge in computing, with only 95 progressing to the next stage.
On 2nd November, 42 shortlisted participants were invited to DMUK’s campus for an immersive experience day. During this final round, they created portfolio webpages and participated in a problem-solving competition. With internet access and guidance from DMUK faculty, the participants demonstrated their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Portfolios were evaluated by judges based on ten criteria, including creativity, presentation quality, and adherence to computing principles.
As a result of the competition, 34 participants were awarded scholarships to continue their academic journey at DMUK with the following breakdown:
- 50% scholarship – 5 winners
- 40% scholarship – 10 winners
- 30% scholarship – 10 winners
- 25% scholarship – 17 winners
The entire DMUK community extends its warmest congratulations to the winners!
