Guest lecture from Ritz Carlton on Brand Management

February 21, Almaty, Kazakhstan – De Montfort University Kazakhstan (DMUK) was delighted to host a guest lecture for second-year Business and Marketing students on brand management and consumer experience within the Marriott hotel chains. The lecture was delivered by Meruyert Chirikova , Assistant Training Manager at The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty. The session attracted 27 students eager to learn about the world of luxury brand management from an industry expert.

Ms. Chirikova shared her extensive experience in the horeca industry, including her time working abroad. She offered a deep dive into the principles and mission behind The Ritz-Carlton brand, detailing how the hotel chain builds its iconic image and cultivates personalised guest experiences. She highlighted the importance of anticipating guests’ needs and creating memorable experiences, which is at the heart of The Ritz-Carlton’s legendary customer service culture. The students listened attentively, fully engaged in the discussions, and eagerly participated when Ms. Chirikova posed questions. Her dynamic presentation prompted a lively exchange of ideas, allowing students to explore real-world applications of brand management theories.

The lecture concluded with an introduction to Marriott Bonvoy, the loyalty programme that connects Marriott International’s portfolio of hotels worldwide. Ms. Chirikova explained how Marriott Bonvoy enhances customer loyalty by offering exclusive perks, including free room upgrades, dining discounts, and reward points redeemable across numerous global locations. Ms. Chirikova also shared valuable career advice, emphasising the importance of internships and hands-on experiences to understand the industry better. She encouraged students to explore different roles to find their passion and spoke about potential career prospects within The Ritz-Carlton.
