British Embassy in Kazakhstan Hosts Workshop on Transnational Education Programs in Almaty

The British Embassy in Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the British Council and De Montfort University Kazakhstan, organized a workshop titled “Transnational Educational (TNE) Programs as a Tool to Improve the Quality of Work and the Attractiveness of Universities.” This insightful event took place in Almaty as part of the 10th UK-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of experts and representatives from British and Kazakh universities, creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in transnational education programs. Speakers from the University of Warwick, the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies, and the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education also gave special presentations on their experience of collaboration with Kazakh institutions. Participants discussed innovative strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and appeal of higher education institutions in Kazakhstan.

One of the workshop’s highlights was the sharing of case studies from both nations. This collaboration resulted in the launch of the Heriot-Watt and Zhubanov University joint programs in September, demonstrating the potential of international partnerships in higher education.

Additionally, Professor Madina Bigabatova, Dean of the KBTU (Kazakhstan-British Technical University) International School of Economics shared a compelling case study on the establishment of a dual-degree program in collaboration with the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE).
